The states of Texas and Washington are different on a multitude of levels.
Today we’re reminded just how different the two are with the announcement by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott he is suing to stop the federal government from regulating greenhouse gas emissions.
Late last year the EPA paved the way for more environmental regulations by declaring that greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health. Under that guise, Big Brother planned “the start of a U.S. campaign to tackle greenhouse gas emissions” under the Clean Air Act.
Texas says allowing the feds (via the EPA) to limit how much greenhouse gas states can emit will have a devastating impact on that state’s economy, crippling major industries and leaving thousands jobless. So they’re going to do what Texans do best—put up one hell of a fight.
In his news release announcing Texas’ bold move, Texas AG Abbot cited the lack of sound science supporting global warming, thanks to the scandalous revelations of ClimateGate, as one of the reasons for his state’s challenge:
“With billions of dollars at stake, EPA outsourced the scientific basis for its greenhouse gas regulation to a scandal-plagued international organization that cannot be considered objective or trustworthy. Prominent climate scientists associated with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change were engaged in an ongoing, orchestrated effort to violate freedom of information laws, exclude scientific research, and manipulate temperature data. In light of the parade of controversies and improper conduct that has been uncovered, we know that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change cannot be relied upon for objective, unbiased science,so EPA should not rely upon it to reach a decision that will hurt small businesses, farmers, ranchers, and the larger Texas economy.”
God bless Texas.
Don’t expect the Evergreen State to follow Texas’ lead. While Texas AG Abbot is condemning the lack of science behind global warming and challenging the EPA’s plan to regulate, Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna has been joining lawsuits and signing letters demanding the EPA regulate greenhouse gases. Not coincidentally, McKenna is the only “Republican”* AG to join this pro-EPA posse of liberal Democrats.
(*Editor’s Note: The “ ” around Republican indicates The Hammer’s belief McKenna is a RINO)
